A Wet Day for Homework

Well it's a typical english summer's day here: it's been tipping it down all day!

So I have been holed up indoors, nibbling on Cadbury's chocolate and finally writing up my second assignment while Jackson has his nap.

I feel saintly now it is completed but I can't wait for the next module - I'm really enjoying getting my brain working - especially at something I love. But now I am stopping for a lovely hot cup of tea before I tackle the laundry - oh what a glamour life I lead! x

I'm in love...

....with console tables, as you know and this beautiful one from my favourite Graham & Green is no exception. Ditto for the mirror and the lamp, tres glam.

And then, whilst reading 25 Beautiful Homes magazine, I came across a similar photo with a suggestion in the description to try Quality Furniture 4 U who produce almost identical furniture at pretty much half the price. Being a bargain lover I had a nosey and found matching for all the pieces that I heart!

Today's dawn chorus

Console tables are my latest obsession - probably because I don't currently have a big enough hallway to accommodate one! But i'm working on that... anyway - I love them all!

I'm in love...

I'm in love... with this simply stunning malibu home that I stumbled across via the inspiring blog of Velvet & Linen.
The view, the lap pool, the dreamy coastal living rooms, the size of the place - I don't know what is most amazing! I also love the attic room that the owner had designed for all her grandchildren - so much fun.
It is currently up for sale here - not quite in my price range just yet... besides I'm quite happy in good old blighty in my little house!!!!

A Summer's Weekend

We spent a glorious saturday with the boys, going on a long walk around the woods and parkland we are lucky enough to have up the road from us. There is such a beautiful field there with great views of the downs which is perfect for picnicking and a great children's play area to keep the young ones happy. Surprisingly enough no-one was there so it felt like the whole park was our back garden!

Grandad visited in the evening and for the price of a ham & potato salad he sat with the boys while we went over the road to our favourite restaurant, Souffle, on the other side of The Green. We even managed to bag a table on the patio and had the perfect summer's evening. I had crab spring rolls with mango chilli salsa to start, luke had asparagus tart with asparagus on the side topped with poached egg - gorgeous. Then I had lamb and luke had fillet of beef but the creme de la creme was the Passionfruit Souffle which, ironically, is the most perfect thing in the restaurant. I can't even remember what Luke had for dessert as we had drunk too much wine by then! Hope you had a good weekend too?! x

Sunny Holidays

The boys are currently on half-term and Joe had his friend over for the night last night - we had a bbq, they played football on the green and are now nagging me to go on a picnic (which we will as soon as little legs wakes up!). It's a beautiful day so we must make the most of it! Happy Friday! xx

A Happy Thought! Father's Day!

I bookmarked the lovely website Happy Thought a while back when I was planning a children's easter party and went back there today to see what's new. Happily I stumbled across a great poster that I know would make my boxing-loving husband smile for Father's Day. It can be fully personalised and would definitely brighten up his office!
Happy Though also produce personalised children's name prints and decals to brighten up nurseries, as well as printable party cut-outs for invites, party boxes etc - well worth a look! Their blog is here too x

A Painted Nest - and more gorgeous artwork

I love the depth of colour and rich tactile feel of oil paintings and I really wanted to share these from Roz Art's etsy store.
Roz describes her work as 'wimsical fine art' and it makes me smile. Her cows, in particular, are very humorous but I love her depictions of people, especially in her 'leap' collection. They just define that carefree feeling of long summer childhood days for me and as soon as I have a house with walls big enough I will be investing for sure!
