Our New Home + Front Doors

Our new home has a beautiful Victorian door with original stained glass, it is stunning to look at from inside as the glass lights up in beautiful pinks, purples and yellows but from outside the door just blends in with the rendered walls and looks blah to me!

I can't wait for the wisteria to come out which will make it look pretty but I keep nagging Mr C for a change of colour to the door. He agrees to paint it a safe French Grey or some other tasteful period colour but I want BOLD!

What do you think? What colour would you go for? Have a look at these beauties to whet your whistle, to me they look so welcoming, fun and glam...

And here is a shot of our new place and that camouflaged door..

Back to Attack!

Apologies for the extremely long absence but I can report that I am still here!
I took some time away from blogging as we have had quite a difficult few months, we were told my father-in-law was terminally ill just before Christmas and sadly hasn't been given long. News like this readjusts your priorities and some things, including blogging, I couldn't get my head round for a while.
It has been rewarding, though, consciously putting family life first and I have included a few catch up shots of what's been happening since December.

Also, our lease came up on our beautiful house we have been renting for a year and only 10 days ago we moved again! Although the last house was stunning and perfectly finished this one has a real family feel and is just off the high street in our favourite town so I am feeling very blessed right now - I swear I'm never moving again!

Now we are all settled I look forward to catching up with my favourite blogs and sharing all my news and finds again!

much love x

Happy Friday and Lonny Lusciousness

Loving this issue of Lonny Mag!

My favourite features were of Rober Leleux's Manhattan apartment and Susan Becher's West Side apartment.

I love how they both used black and white but warmed them up with neutrals and metallics and the odd shot of colour. My favourite mix at the moment is black, white, pink and gold and so this fills my fancy - but I digress... see these beauties here while I dash off on the school run in my wellies dreaming of chicness xx

The Madeline Weinrib rug makes me want to rush out and get that ikea copy-cat once and for all!

Monday Brights - Seeing Red

I love a red dress, and sometimes red lipstick but red is never really top of my list on the decor stakes (other than in my boys bedroom, I love the red accents in there). But I am loving these dramatic and warm rooms here... it's definitely a case of finding the perfect balance while embracing the glamour the colour oozes. Is red your colour? x

happy friday!

I love this time of year...

It's a feast for the senses: the colours of the leaves, the crackles underfoot as you walk through the woods, the cosiness of a favourite jumper.. and it all culminates for me on bonfire night...

That smell of the fireworks and sparklers...

the comforting food, the wellies and gloves it just brings me straight back to my childhood - love it!

Whatever you are doing enjoy yourself this weekend x

Christmas Cake!

Jackson and I have spent the morning making our Christmas Cake! I've never bothered making one before but this year I really want Christmas to be back to basics - all about the twinkly lights, the tree, good home cooked food and being with the family. As such I'm starting early making sure the cupboards are stocked with all the good stuff.

Jackson adored helping stir the ingredients and licking the spoon! The house is a flour dusted mess but smells gorgeous!

I'm looking forward to feeding it (and myself) liberally with brandy from now until Christmas. Ho ho ho, there's no turning back now!

{this is how I am hoping it will look!}
If you are interested, it is the Delia Smith recipe which you can find here
